The library of ANU was established in 1948 after Arthur McDonald was appointed as the first librarian. The library holds over 2.5 million physical volumes distributed across six branches - Menzies, Art & Music, Hancock, Chifley, and Law Libraries and the external Print Repository. Chifley and Hancock's libraries are both accessible for ANU staff and students 24 hours a day.

The acceptance rate at Australian National University is 35% and is very competitive in general. International students must have a minimum GPA of 5.0, an IELTS score of 6.5, and at least three to five years of work experience to be considered for admission.
