2. School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences

The school of Education, communication, and Language Sciences are one of the oldest and experienced schools specialized in speech therapy, psychology, and applied linguistics. It is the first school to have offered a degree in speech and language therapy and has been excelling in many fields since then. It offers a variety of world-class facilities and has been continuously reaching new echelons of success.

• American Literature Professor, James Annesley has an interest in American literature, contemporary literature and culture, globalization, consumer society, and lifestyle
• Professor Linda Anderson, Professor of Modern English and American Literature, has research interests in autobiography, the theory, and use of archives, especially in relation to poetry, modern and contemporary poetry, in particular Elizabeth Bishop 's poetry, the relationship between the critical, creative and digital.

• Dr Rosario Aguilar, Lectureship in Comparative Politics has been involved in large-scale survey projects such as the Mexican National Elections Study that is part of the Electoral Systems Comparative Studies.
• Dr. Jen Bagelman, lecturer in Human Geography, has written on innovative pedagogy and, in keeping with a 'service-led' teaching model, aimed at making courses meaningful and usable to communities that reach beyond the classroom.

5. School of History, Classics, and Archaeology

The School of History, Classics and Archeology is part of the University of Newcastle 's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. As the capital of a region of historic importance, Newcastle is a great place to study history, classics and archeology.

Faculty Size and Accomplishments 

• Dr. Jonathan Andrews, Reader in Psychological History, taught at the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Oxford Brookes for over 9 years, both at the Masters and Doctoral level and at the Undergraduate level, where I was a project leader or part of a team, teaching a range of courses.
• Dr Scott Ashley, Medieval History lecturer, has research interests in European history from the late antiquity to the eleventh century.

Research Accomplishments

• A wooden box from the Bronze Age unearthed in the Swiss mountains in 2012 has proven to be an exciting discovery for scientists as it sheds new light on the foods consumed by prehistoric settlers.  
• The archeologist at Newcastle University took center stage in the recent program that highlighted local cultural heritage. The program inspired audiences to involve themselves with archeology by exposing the hidden past buried under the residents' back gardens in Maidstone, Kent.

6. School of Modern Languages

A number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs are offered by the School of Modern Languages. Combined Honours provides new opportunities to learn languages alongside other subjects.

• Andrea Wilczynski, school director, received the Newcastle University Teaching Excellence Award for Outstanding Feedback Contribution. She had been nominated for the 2015 , 2016, and 2017 Teaching Excellence Awards (Innovative Teaching, Pastoral Care, Feedback).

7. Culture Lab

Culture Lab lets members engage in creative digital arts in experimental and cross-disciplinary projects. Members work in custom-designed environments that are technologically rich. It is home to Studio Digital Cultures and Film@CultureLab.

• Professor John Bowers, Professor of Innovative Interactive Education, has published extensively in HCI and Computer-Assisted Cooperative Research (CSCW).
• Dr Alastair Cole, Film Practice professor, has worked as a documentary filmmaker in Scotland, throughout Europe-including Italy, Finland and the Balkans, as well as in Zambia and South Africa.

8. Philosophical Studies

Philosophy at Newcastle is a hub for Modern European Thought that is increasingly relevant and offers degrees that concentrate primarily on Continental Philosophy.

Dr. Miriam Baldwin, Lecturer is involved in research in the relationship between art, literature, and hope narratives; contemporary identity; transgender and non-binary identities; identity and digital media, identity, and temporality.
Dr. Tina Chanter, Philosophy lecturer is also interested in some creative writing, which straddles prose and poetry. Her research is self-consciously interdisciplinary, though rooted in philosophy.
