The University fees have been annihilated in 2014. Presently, the foreign students might have to pay only a meager fee for undergraduate courses and some additional fees for postgraduate courses. The admission requirements are pretty simple: After deciding on the course and the university, you need to focus on the student visa. Your entry into Germany depends on whether your student visa gets sanctioned or not. Thus, if you are applying for a study course beyond three months, then you need to apply for a student visa. This particular visa lasts for four years. The full-time student visa for studies is called the German Study Visa in Germany. There are 3 types of study visas- The requirement is that you should be enrolled with a legal education provider for a full-time course. This includes schools, tertiary study post-secondary school, distance-learning, and even English language-based study. Further, you should be able to pay complete fees for your course. The visa lasts as long as your course duration. It also allows you to work for twenty hours per week during the regular study and full-time during your vacations. It is advised that you apply for the visa at least three months in advance. You have to apply to the German Embassy or the German Consulate. The Process is as Follows - In order to get the student visa, you should meet the criteria of the Immigration Department or the Resident’s Registration Office. The Process to get a student visa is as follows- Admission Evidence- Your Admission Letter or Offer Letter from the University or Institution. Note - Attach all Originals along with two photocopies each. An international student has to prove that they have the financial resources to live in Germany for a year. A special type of bank account is opened to deposit the stipulated funds known as the Blocked Account. As of 1 January 2020, the German Government has set the amount at 10,332 Euros for a year of living expenses, which equals approximately INR 9 lakhs. A monthly limit of withdrawal is set at 861 Euros for various expenses such as living expenses, accommodation, travel expenses, etc. Students can deposit more money than the specified amount to increase their monthly limit. Proof of Financial Resources is an important requirement to get your student visa and your study residence permit.
Log on to the Online Immigration Portal for German Student Visa and fill in the application form. Make an account, file the application and pay the Visa fee via Bank Transfer. Submit all the required documents. After your application is processed, you may be asked to attend an Interview. You may even be asked to provide biometric details and photographs.
