Test of English as a Foreign Language by ETS
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a standardized test designed to evaluate the English language proficiency of non-native speakers aspiring to pursue higher education or professional opportunities in English-speaking environments. Developed and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS), the TOEFL assesses a test taker's ability to understand and use English in academic settings. The test comprises four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. The Reading and Listening sections gauge comprehension skills, while the Speaking section assesses oral proficiency, and the Writing section evaluates written expression. TOEFL scores are widely accepted by universities and institutions worldwide, making it a crucial tool for international students. The test aims to ensure that individuals can effectively communicate and succeed in English-based academic and professional settings, providing a fair and reliable measure of language proficiency for diverse global candidates.
There are mainly three types of TOEFL tests administered by ETS - TOEFL iBT, TOEFL PBT, and TOEFL Essentials.

TOEFL is accepted by English-speaking countries like the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and several European countries as well.
There are no eligibility criteria to take the TOEFL exam. Students can take the exam to test their English language skills or for purely academic reasons such as studying in an English-speaking country. There are no age restrictions as well.
The exam fee depends on the country of residence. For Indian candidates, the exam fee is as follows -
TOEFL iBT - $190
The TOEFL iBT exam is administered all around the year, more than 60 times a year. The TOEFL Home Edition is available 24 hours a day, 4 days a week, with an appointment as early as 24 hours after registration.
