While each of ASU's graduate programs has its own admissions requirements, the university has established baseline requirements for master's, certificate, and doctorate programs. You must have a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in the United States, or the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree from an internationally recognized institution.
In the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate coursework, one must have maintained a “B” (3.00 on a 4.00 scale) grade point average.
The application may still be accepted by the department if one does not fulfill the minimum GPA standards.
Proof of English competence is required for international students (for students whose native language is not English). International students must apply for a U.S. visa after being accepted, which includes providing a graduate financial guarantee.
All overseas transcripts must include an authentic English translation in addition to the original language.
Important Guidelines about Documents
Official transcripts are certified copies of official documentation from each secondary school, college, university, or technical institution that the student has attended. Original academic credentials from the registrar of the institution attended, bearing the university's original raised or colored seal and the signature of the registrar, academic official, or recognized international organization.
All transcripts and academic records from all post-secondary institutions attended. An official degree certificate must be supplied with the academic record for some countries.
Note: One must first complete an ASU application before mailing or delivering any material. Sending documents before doing so will cause the application to be delayed. It is also recommended that any documents addressed to ASU include a student's ASU ID or application ID on the envelope.
Important Admission Dates
Minimum standards for admission to graduate degree programs are maintained by the university. These standards, as well as the standards, application materials, and timelines for submitting your application for the degree program of interest, should be reviewed by applicants. The applications for the Fall semester normally open around September while the Spring semester opens around February. Deadlines for submitting applications are set by Academic program offices.
Process & Application Fee
Step 1: Fill out the graduate admissions application, which includes options for a degree, certificate, and non-degree status
Step 2: Pay the nonrefundable application fee in the following manner:
When you've finished your application for admission, you'll be requested to pay the application fee. Visa and Mastercard are accepted at ASU. The administrative cost of processing your application is covered by the graduate application fee.
Step 3: Have official transcripts (certified copies of official documentation from each secondary school, college, university, or technical school attended) forwarded to Graduate Admission Services. Courses completed, grades or marks received, and certificates or degrees conferred must all be documented. All documents that aren't written in English should be accompanied by a certified English translation.
Step 4: Send your TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE score to ASU or offer proof of completion from Global Launch as proof of English language proficiency.
Step 5: Submit your official test results as well as any supporting documentation.
Even though you submitted your application online, it may be considered incomplete until all further materials are received. Keep in mind that any document you provide to ASU becomes ASU's property and will not be returned to you.
Step 6: Gather visa and immigration paperwork.
To apply for an F-1 or J-1 student visa, all overseas students wishing to attend ASU must first file for an I-20. If you are in the United States on a valid visa, you must show proof of your current visa. Please send a copy of this email to Arizona State University.
