For Mechanical Engineering, the department offers a four-year B.S in Mechanical Engineering. (BSME). Students are offered to choose from two tracks to complete their BS. One is the Professional Practice track which gives students more exposure to business practices, communication. The University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the School of Management offer a five-year BS/MBA program leading to a combined Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Business Administration. The Department of Electrical Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), a four-year degree program. A 5-year Joint B.S/MBA provided by the department allows students to earn both BS in Electrical Engineering and MBA from UB School of Management. During their fourth and fifth years, students take a combination of MBA and EE courses. Therefore, students earn both degrees at the end of five years.
The M.S in Electrical Engineering is a graduate program offered by the department and can be completed within two years. It may be completed via two tracks:
By submitting a thesis - Each thesis must be successfully defended in an oral examination.
Comprehensive exam- Students are allowed two attempts to pass the MS Comprehensive Exam.
To qualify for admission to the MS program in Electrical Engineering offered by the department, a candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or any of the mathematical, physical, behavioral, or health sciences.
The department also offers Master of Engineering and Engineering Sciences MS with a focus on Internet of Things, Nanoelectronics and Clean Energy.
