The University of Delaware is a unique private as well as a public University, which was established in 1743. It is a privately chartered university that also receives some state assistance and hence its unique status! This University is one of the three Universities in the country which have Land Grant, Space Grant, Sea Grant, and Urban Grant status. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching considers the University of Delaware as “a research university with very high research activity”.

The University of Delaware (colloquially UD or Delaware) is a public research university located in Newark, Delaware. The main campus is in Newark, with satellite campuses in Dover, Wilmington, Lewes, and Georgetown.
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is the closest major airport
.  Located 11km from downtown Philadelphia, it is a 45-minute drive from the University of Delaware’s Newark, DE campus. Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is a 75-minute drive from the University of Delaware’s Newark, DE campus. Delaware Express Shuttle Service serves both airports.

By car, the university is 56 km from Philadelphia and takes around 45 minutes. New York is approx. 220 km away, and it takes around 2 hrs 30 min to get to Newark. For commute by bus and train, take a bus from Terminal A- Philadelphia Airport to Chester and then a train to Newark.
