Popularly known as UNC Charlotte, this university was established in 1946 and it is now the largest institute of higher education in Charlotte. Attached to the main campus is Charlotte Research Institute that focuses on optoelectronics, metrology and information technology. UNC Charlotte has 3 main campuses: Charlotte Research Institute, Center City and the main campus, which is located in the University City. The main campus is surrounded by several man-made lakes and a lot of greenery. The New building was constructed with neoclassical architecture theme and the road system of the campus is upgraded as well. There is an on-campus football stadium that can easily seat together around 15,300 students.
