University of Southern California Rankings

The University of Southern California, located in Los Angeles, California, is a more than 100-year-old higher education institution. The university was ranked 18th in a comprehensive study of nearly 1,000 colleges and universities in the United States by Times Higher Education and The Wall Street Journal in 2020. The Shanghai Ranking (ARWU), which places a high value on teacher quality and research output, has consistently lowered USC's ranking from 49th in 2016 to 61st in 2020.

However, it has improved significantly in QS (top universities) international university rankings, moving from 136th place in 2017 to 121st place in 2021. Similarly, USC has risen in THE's global university rankings. In 2016, it was ranked 60th, but by 2021, it had risen to 53rd place. It obviously indicates that USC has increased its academic standing among academicians and specialists over time.

In 2020, QS Rankings (top institutions) ranked USC's Communications and Media Studies programme as the second best. The university has 79 research centres and receives $891 million in funding for research. USC's business programmes are recognised by prominent ranking providers. Bloomberg placed it 22nd among the finest business schools in the United States in 2019. USC's undergraduate business school is extremely popular, and US News has placed it as the 12th best in the US. In addition, US News ranked its Entrepreneurship MBA programme 18th in 2021.

USC has risen from 47th place in Times Higher Education's PG Business and Economics rankings in 2019 to 42nd place in 2021. The School of Cinematic Arts and the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at USC are both well-known. USC's undergraduate engineering programmes are also ranked among the top in the world by major ranking services.
