On January 1, 1990, the Institute of Technical and Adult Teacher Education and the Kuring-gai College of Advanced Education were amalgamated with the existing University of Technology, Sydney, to form the current UTS.

UTS is a public university of technology which is measured by the success of students, staff and partners and is committed to research, innovation and dissemination of knowledge of public value. UTS has a culturally diverse campus life and vibrant international exchange study and research programs that prepare graduates for the workplaces of today and the future.

The campus is in Sydney's central business district. Continuing a 10-year period of major development, the university continues to maintain and develop a purpose- and sustainably-built campus to support innovation in education and research. It has a total enrolment of over 44,000 students and is one of the largest universities in Australia.

UTS offers over 130 undergraduate and 210 postgraduate courses across traditional and emerging disciplines such as architecture, built environment, business, communication, design, education, engineering, information technology, international studies, law, midwifery, nursing, pharmacy and science. Residential Options

The university offers affordable accommodation options to suit a wide range of requirements. All the options are close to supermarkets, restaurants, and services. The university offers share apartments – two-, three-, four-, six-, seven-, eight-, nine-bedroom apartments with a common living room, kitchen and bathroom facilities, or studio apartments – a self-contained area including bedroom, bathroom and kitchen facilities. The UTS Housing Service is made up of five separate student residences.

As per a survey undertaken by the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching, 81% of undergraduates found full-time work immediately after graduating. It is the third-highest rate amongst Australian universities and higher than the national average of 73.3%.

The Sydney airport, which is the nearest airport from the university, is a 15-minute cab ride. The North Sydney station is an 8-minute cab ride making it easily accessible.
