Tier-4 Visa is basically the student Visa.  For shorter courses, which last about 6 months there exists the short term study visa. It is valid for 6 months and can be extended to about 11 months.

(The proof can be a bank statement or letter from the financial sponsor also)

The entire visa process is graded and an applicant needs to secure over 40 points.

In order to submit the visa application, you will have to visit the UK visa and immigration website. Apart from the basic details about you and your university, your biometric information - photo and fingerprints are also required.

The student has to visit the UK Embassy and submit the application and biometric information. You will have to attend a visa interview during the application process.

The student will have to show a reference number called the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) which is given by the University. The CAS is required for application and the student has to apply within 6 months of receiving the CAS.

All international students need to pay the health insurance every year. What this does is that a student gets the health benefits in UK similar as that of a permanent resident.

The student will get free medical treatment and free consultation from a doctor (apart from optical and dental care) if needed while he/she is a Visa holder.

    Working as a Student:-

    What is GIR?

As per the new policy called the Graduate Immigration Route (GIR) introduced by the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, in Sept 2019, Indian students can stay for 2 years/24 months after completing their studies to find employment in the country.
When will GIR come into effect?
GIR will be in effect from the year 2021. After the abolishment of the two-year post-study visa policy in the UK by ex-British PM, Theresa May, this is a breather for students who aspire to higher education and career in the UK.
