The State University of Binghamton is also called as SUNY Binghamton or Binghamton University and it was established in 1946. It is a public research University and has established itself as a leading institution in the country. Greene's’ Guide has named the University amongst “public ivy” universities.

The campus is spread across 930 acres and is a sight to behold for nature lovers. It is home to preserved forests and is dotted with woods, lakes, and wetlands. Hence, it is quite a nature lover’s paradise. The University also has five centers with libraries that house thousands of volumes of books. Students also have access to research labs, a huge greenhouse at the Science Block, art museums and art centers.

Binghamton University is located in the Southern Tier of upstate New York, just one and a half km west of the city of Binghamton and a short drive from the major urban centers in New York and neighboring states. Despite its name, the university is actually located in Vestal, N.Y., a suburb of Binghamton.
