Founded in 1881, New Jersey Institute of Technology, located in Newark, New Jersey is a public research university. NJIT or New Jersey Institute of Technology, is a public research institution of higher education located in Essex County, New Jersey. It was established in 1881 and with the addition of a School of Architecture in 1973, NJIT became a polytechnic university that now hosts six schools which offers more than 125 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Ranked #1 research institution by Carnegie Classification, NJIT has 135 research institutes, centers and labs and conducts $ 160+ million of research annually. It’s campus spans over forty-five acres which boasts about research, innovation and excitement. A number of 2,894 degrees were awarded in 2019 across undergraduate and graduate programs. Campus & Accommodation

The vast forty-five acre campus promotes diversity and fosters a dynamic and amazing living experience. Over 2,000 students live on campus at NJIT in one of the four residence halls. Each room is equipped with TV and internet access and is air conditioned. Though the facilities offered at this University might not be as good as those offered by some other leading Universities, the well-stocked library - with over a million volumes- and the research laboratories are pretty reasonable.

New Jersey Institute of Technology is located at the centre of Newark which is only eight miles from New York City and twenty minutes from Manhattan through train. It is accessible by bus, light rail, rail and flight. Buses are available from NJ Transit Bus Lines: 28, 37, 62, 67, 107, while trains are available from Newark Liberty International Airport to Newark Penn Station.

Those who wish to travel by flight can either catch a train or a taxi directly to the campus from the airport. A shuttle bus service is available which is shared among the two campuses and operated by Rutgers-Newark. The bus service is free for the students who just have to display their  NJIT ID card to avail the services. It also offers a handicapped-accessible van for a tour throughout the campus.
