Founded in 1881, New Jersey Institute of Technology, located in Newark, New Jersey is a public research university.     New Jersey Institute of Technology is located at the centre of Newark which is only eight miles from New York City and twenty minutes from Manhattan through train. It is accessible by bus, light rail, rail and flight. Buses are available from NJ Transit Bus Lines: 28, 37, 62, 67, 107, while trains are available from Newark Liberty International Airport to Newark Penn Station.

    Those who wish to travel by flight can either catch a train or a taxi directly to the campus from the airport. A shuttle bus service is available which is shared among the two campuses and operated by Rutgers-Newark. The bus service is free for the students who just have to display their  NJIT ID card to avail the services. It also offers a handicapped-accessible van for a tour throughout the campus.
