The classes in the Aerospace Engineering Department are conducted by known, award-winning teachers. The department also has access to Canadian Space Agency, Bombardier, Transport Canada and more. The undergraduates join student competition teams which take Hyperloop and NASA by storm and can achieve valuable work experience through the optional cooperative internship program. Graduate students are engaged in innovative studies that accelerate their careers. The department provides both graduate and undergraduate (BEng) degrees. The undergraduate aerospace engineering program is one of the first undergraduate programs accredited by the CEAB for Canadian aerospace engineering.
As a graduate, one can choose from PhD full-time, Master of Applied Science (MASc, full-time) and Master of Engineering (MEng, full-time or part-time) programmes with three specializations:
The department also provides Professional Master's Diploma in Aerospace Design Management (PMDip), which is designed to meet the requirements of all transportation sectors and commercial airplane production sectors.
The Biomedical Engineering program of Ryerson is one of Canada's first stand-alone Biomedical Engineering programs. Through the Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering, the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS) offers a four-year program of BEng in Biomedical Engineering. The number of biomedical engineering jobs are anticipated to rise twice as fast as the overall engineering discipline average for a 26.1 percent gain by 2012, according to the U.S.
There is an option for cooperative internship program too wherein one needs to spend a period of 8-16 consecutive months in a work placement after successful enrollment in the program. Co-operative internship enrolment extends the duration of the undergraduate program to five years.
The department also provides: Optional Specialization in Engineering Innovation And Entrepreneurship (OS EIE) covering concepts of economic engineering, entrepreneurship and innovation management, and fresh venture developments based on technology; Optional Management Specialization (OS MS) which covers four key management science fields: Strategic Engineering Management, Operations Management/Operations Research, Finance, and Organizational Behavior.
The Chemical Engineering Department offers a chance for learners to conduct advanced and experimental research. Undergraduate learners have the opportunity to join teams frequently winning awards at contests for water treatment and chemical plant design and acquire valuable work experience through their compulsory cooperative internship program.
The cooperative internship program brings learners into contact with sector leaders and government agencies like Apotex, Sanofi Pasteur, Environment Canada and Suncor Energy. The Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) accredits the chemical engineering BEng co-operative degree program. The department offers MEng (Project, full time or part-time) and MASc (thesis/full time) in Chemical Engineering.
The Civil Engineering Department prepares its graduates to lead or consult on structural, environmental and transportation projects or pursue careers in the building and mining sectors. The department offers both undergraduate (with optional co-operative internship program) and graduate degrees (MASc - Research, MEng and PhD) in Civil Engineering.
The Master of Engineering (MEng) provides the following areas of specialization: environmental, geomatics, structural, transportation, as well as limited courses in geotechnical engineering and construction and infrastructure management.
As an MEng Civil Engineering student, one can achieve global experience and simultaneously receive two master's degrees— one from Ryerson University and another from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA), external link in Karlsruhe, Germany. This program consists of a minimum of two semesters (eight months) at Ryerson and two semesters (12 months) at HsKA.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is ranked No. 7 in Canada for Overall Research by NTU International Rankings and No. 4 for faculty h-index in Canada for Overall Research, NTU International Rankings.
