Campus & Accommodation

The first and most established public university on the West Coast is San Jose State University. As the first State Norman School, the university was founded in 1857 to provide education for the populace of nascent California. Without a question, SJSU was the original campus of the California State University System and continues to provide students with a top-notch education, cutting-edge research, and practical experience.

Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees are available from San Jose State University in more than 250 fields of study. The institution is home to nine colleges. The 62-acre South Campus of SJSU is home to numerous sports and athletics facilities. The university teams referred to as Spartans, practice and compete at SJSU's south campus. With industry and entrepreneurial attitude, the university's more than 2000 academic members actively pursue research, scholarship, and creative endeavors.

Accommodation

There are seven residence halls at SJSU. Around 7600 students have access to a variety of housing alternatives through the university, including typical residence halls, Greek homes, and apartments in the heart of the city. The cost of living in various residences varies correspondingly. All the details about on-campus housing are available to students on the University Housing Services website. The starting price for on-campus housing is $7,379 a year. This covers access to WiFi, water, garbage, and essential utilities like gas and electricity. Students who live in conventional and suit-style residence halls must have a meal plan. For students from other countries, there is an International House which is a co-ed residence for 70 persons. The international house is a sizable, welcoming residence on the SJSU campus where students from all nations and cultures get along well.

The residence halls on campus are separated into:

The Bricks and Joe West: This building has a capacity of 650 pupils and offers all the necessary amenities.

Up to 2,600 students can be housed in the Campus Village Building C (CVC Suites), which also has parking garages and basic utilities.

There are 4,350 beds available in the Campus Village Buildings A and B (CAV and CVB Apartments), together with the necessary amenities.

Infrastructure

The main campus and the south campus are the two distinct areas of San Jose State University's campus. By offering a Wellness Lounge that emphasizes relaxation, violence prevention, etc., San Jose State University offers a safe and healthy campus environment.

Through the Federal Work-Study Program, SJSU students can gain valuable work experience while making money to help pay for their education (FWS). There is a focus on offering community service work both on and off campus.
