Admission Requirements for International Students

When you apply at the University of Dayton, please note that different programmes may have differing application requirements, entry terms, and deadlines. You will need to submit all admission requirements through your admission account, and the university does not accept emailed documents. 

For undergraduate programmes at the University of Dayton, international students need to fulfill the following admission requirements:

• Official secondary transcripts in originally issued language. If your transcripts are not issued in English, you will need to send along a certified English translation.

You can mail the transcripts from the secondary school to the University of Dayton via:

1. i) Mailed to Office of Recruitment and Admission, University of Dayton, 300 College Park, Dayton, OH 45469-2713
2. ii) E-transcript sent to [email protected].

iii) Emailed to [email protected].

• Proof of completion is in the form of a graduation date listed on the transcript, a diploma, or a certificate of completion. If you are still enrolled in a secondary school, you will need to submit this prior to enrollment at the University of Dayton.
• Proof of English Proficiency. These scores must be sent to the University of Dayton directly from the testing centre using code 1834 or, for the ACT, code 3342.
• F-1 and J-1 students should provide a letter of financial support and a bank statement showing enough available funds to cover the first year of study.

Most graduate programmes at the University of Dayton have the following admission requirements for international students:

• Letters of Recommendation: Students will directly receive a recommendation form, and they can change their recommender or resend this form through the Admission Account.
• A personal statement, writing sample, or statement of research
• Transcripts from previously attended institutions and credential evaluation. International students need to submit English-translated version transcripts along with the unofficial ones.
• Proof of English Proficiency
• Complete the Affidavit of Financial Support showing you have sufficient funds for one year of study. You can submit this form through your Admission Account. 
• GRE or GMAT scores are also required for certain courses

Step-by-Step Admission Process 

Undergraduate applicants can follow these steps to apply to their choice of courses at the University of Dayton:

Step 1: Apply through the University of Dayton Application or the Common Application. There is no application fee.

Step 2: Submit all the required academic documents, such as Proof of English Proficiency, official transcripts, and other financial documentation, such as a letter of financial support.

Step 3: Students can check their status at any time via the application portal to see what documents they have received and what is still required to complete the application. 

Step 4: Await the confirmation notification. The university takes at least 4-6 weeks to evaluate the applications and mail out offer letters. However, you may have to wait a bit longer for some programmes as their evaluation and review process may take time.

Step 5: Once you get the offer, confirm your enrollment from your account. 

Graduate applicants can follow these steps to apply at the University of Dayton:

Step 1: Review admission requirements for your choice of programme at least 4 months before the respective application deadline.

Step 2: Submit the graduate application or doctoral application based on the programme of your choice. 

Step 3: Submit academic records to complete credential evaluation.

Step 5: UD takes at least 6-8 weeks for the admission evaluation and review process. Students should note that this process may take more time in certain programmes.

The University of Dayton does not have a minimum GRE or GMAT score requirement for its MBA program as these tests are not mandatory for application.

• Merit Scholarships: Upon successful admission, all students are automatically considered for a merit scholarship worth $31,000 per year for 4 years.
