The University of Florida is counted amongst Florida’s largest, most comprehensive and oldest Universities. It is one of US’s most academically diverse public universities. Founded in 1853, it currently admits students to various schools, such as the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, the Warrington College of Business, the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the Levin College of Law, and the College of Education.

The University of Florida is located at Gainsville which is the county seat and largest city in Alachua County, Florida, United States. Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) is the closest airport to the university offering domestic flights on American Airlines and Delta. Most flights in and out travel regionally to cities like Atlanta, Miami, and Charlotte. Jacksonville International Airport is located 130km from Gainesville, approximately an hour and a half by car. It's the closest major international airport to the Florida city and offers many more options than GNV. Eight airlines fly in and out of the airport, including Delta, United, and Southwest.
Flights from Atlanta to Gainesville take about 1 and a half hours and a bus from the airport to the University takes about 30 minutes.
The university offers various transportation and commuting services. The Campus Cab gives free point-to-point transportation for faculty and staff. The Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol (SNAP) provides safe means of commute on campus at night time. Gator Lift is a fast and comfortable transportation service offered by the university for the disabled members of the university community. Mechanical and Aerospace
Aerospace engineers design, create and test prototypes to make sure that they function according to the design. The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering offers 4-year Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering under their undergraduate program.
Additionally, students can also opt for a dual-degree program. Since there is a great overlap between the Aerospace engineering and Mechanical engineering curriculum, and the first six semesters of the two-degree programs are identical, students can earn a dual Mechanical engineering/Aerospace Engineering B.S. degree with one semester of additional work.
The department also offers a combined Bachelor’s/Master's degree program. It also offers the degrees of Master of Science (thesis or non-thesis), Master of Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Any master’s degree candidate may choose to pursue the Master of Science degree (M.S.), however only those holding ABET-accredited baccalaureate degrees in engineering may choose the Master of Engineering degree (M.E.). All other degree requirements remain the same.
It may be noted, however, that for non - thesis students desirous of pursuing their Ph.D., the written qualifying exam needed to get into the Ph.D. program may substitute for the comprehensive exam.
The Department also offers a Ph.D. which is a research-intensive degree requiring independent mastery of a field of knowledge.

The Chemical Engineering Department in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering. Undergraduate programs, the department offers the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science (thesis and non-thesis options), and Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering.
The Master of Science Degree – Thesis Option - can be completed in 16 months, and it usually spans 16 to 24 months. The Master of Science Degree-Non-Thesis Option- is designed for completion in 12 months. Students may or may not submit a final thesis, but a written report on a project, internship or a contemporary Chemical Engineering topic is necessary for graduation. A student with a B.S. degree in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, or another branch of engineering will be able to achieve the graduate degree (M.E) in Chemical Engineering in case they meet the compulsory academic requirements and complete selected undergraduate courses. The M.E. students have the option to apply for conversion to M.S.-Non-Thesis or M.S.-Thesis program upon completing the undergraduate courses.

The Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Digital Arts and Sciences. The Digital Arts and Sciences (DAS) degree is a core computer science degree with a special emphasis on human-centered computing, which includes art, design and computing courses that are related to digital media, interaction and communication.
The department offers the following graduate degree - Master of Science degree in Computer Science. Students can select a thesis or non-thesis option for the Master’s degree.

The Environmental Engineering Sciences Department offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. It also offers a combined bachelor’s/master’s degree program. The Graduate School offers Master of Science (Thesis/Non-Thesis), M.E (Thesis/Non-Thesis) and Ph.D. The Master's programs are offered in the following concentrations: Geographic Information Systems, Hydrologic Sciences and Wetland Sciences.
Admissions into the Master of Engineering program requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
The Environmental Engineering Sciences Department, in partnership with the Levin College of Law, offers a joint program leading to the M.S. or M.E. degree in environmental engineering sciences and the Juris Doctor degree.

The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department offers a 4-year undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering. The Department offers a combined bachelor’s/master’s degree program of B.S.I.S.E./Master of Science or B.S.I.S.E/ Master of Engineering. The Graduate School offers the M.S and M.E programs with thesis/non-thesis options.
