Wayne University is a public research university that was started in 1868 in Detroit. Having made modest beginnings, today the University is the third-largest university and is also counted amongst the 100 largest universities in the country. The University has a total of 13 schools and colleges that together offer close to 380 undergraduate and graduate programs. Some of its more popular schools are the Mike Ilitch School of Business, the School of Medicine, the Law School, the College of Engineering, the College of Education, and the College of Nursing. It currently has around 28,000 students on its rolls.

Infrastructure
The main campus of Wayne University is located in the heart of Detroit and is spread over 203 acres. This campus has 100 education and research buildings as well as a thriving research park. The Old Main building at the main campus – one of the finest architectural constructions of the University – is also a heritage building. The main campus also boasts of some famous museums, theatres, and galleries.
Apart from the main campus, the University also has 6 other campuses.
Residing Options
The University offers affordable on-campus accommodation to its students. In 2014-2015, on-campus housing cost a student $5,723 while they had to shell out an additional $3,390 for annual meal plans – which was relatively more affordable than other state Universities. As such, most students prefer to live on-campus.

WSU does not have that great a reputation and should be applied to as one of your last options. If you can afford more tuition fees, we advise you to look at other Universities.

Students also take advantage of the shuttle service. Zipcar is the leading car-sharing service in the world, which is also accessible to Wayne State learners.
The Detroit Metro Airport is about 20 miles from the campus and is Wayne State University's closest airport offering commercial airline service. While Wayne State University does not personally provide transportation to and from the airport, learners and visitors are welcome to use Above Excellent Transportation, a shuttle service that provides transportation to and from the campus at far reduced rates as compared to local taxi facilities. Detroit Willow Run Airport is another neighboring airport.
