Brief background:

Wayne University is a public research university that was started in 1868 in Detroit. Having made modest beginnings, today the University is the third-largest university and is also counted amongst the 100 largest universities in the country. The University has a total of 13 schools and colleges that together offer close to 380 undergraduate and graduate programs. Some of its more popular schools are the Mike Ilitch School of Business, the School of Medicine, the Law School, the College of Engineering, the College of Education, and the College of Nursing. It currently has around 28,000 students on its rolls.

The main campus of Wayne University is located in the heart of Detroit and is spread over 203 acres. This campus has 100 education and research buildings as well as a thriving research park. The Old Main building at the main campus – one of the finest architectural constructions of the University – is also a heritage building. The main campus also boasts of some famous museums, theatres, and galleries.

Apart from the main campus, the University also has 6 other campuses.

Residing Options:

The University offers affordable on-campus accommodation to its students. In 2014-2015, on-campus housing cost a student $5,723 while they had to shell out an additional $3,390 for annual meal plans – which was relatively more affordable than other state Universities. As such, most students prefer to live on-campus.

Faculty and pedagogy:

The faculty at Wayne University is good with great experience.

Financial aid:

Though Wayne University offers a few scholarships, they are restricted to a few courses. However, they offer education loans to most students.

Jobs and placements:

Several significant firms and defense organizations, including Ford Motor Company, General Motors, U.S. Army TARDEC, and DTE have approached Wayne University over the previous several years for recruiting technicians with a powerful background in Industrial Controls and Systems Engineering. According to a recent survey, a high percentage of undergraduates in Mechanical Engineering secure a full-time job within one year of graduating in research and development roles as consultants, hardware engineers, research assistants, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing engineers. A WSU graduate's average starting wage is around $67K. There is a significant distinction between post-college boys wages and girl wages: the former's median is $78 K, but the latter's median is only $62K, in spite of more women graduating from the university. Senior Financial Analysts are the highest-earning experts among WSU alumni: they receive $79 K as an average annual salary. Electrical engineers and mechanical engineers also receive $76K. Graduates of WSU holding a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Science (BSEE) can expect an average of $104 K per year.

Some notable alumni from WSU are actor Chad Everett and Executive Director of Google.org Drive Mulholland   Larry Brilliant.

WSU does not have that great a reputation and should be applied to as one of your last options. If you can afford more tuition fees, we advise you to look at other Universities.
