Applicants need to finish a university-preparatory secondary or high school program. They must have a cumulative GPA of B, which is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The following subjects must be completed with grades of C or better: 2 years of Social Science (including one year of U.S. history or U.S. history and government), 4 years of English, 3 years of Mathematics (including algebra, geometry, and intermediate algebra; 4 years recommended), 2 years of Laboratory Science (one biological and one physical science, both with labs), 2 years of Foreign Language (same language, may be waived for those who show equivalent skills), 1 year of Visual or Performing Arts (art, dance, drama/theatre, or music, either one year-long course or two semester-long courses in the same discipline), and 1 year of Electives (chosen from approved courses on the UC/CSU 'a-g' list).
