The MFA Illustration as Visual Essay department was started in 1984 and is designed as a full contact program for figurative artists. We expect a lot from you, starting with a commitment to be fully involved in the art of storytelling.
This course features a classroom-based curriculum, where close interaction between teachers and classmates is a key part of the creative process.
This program is both unique and revolutionary. It changes how figurative artists view their work and how their art connects to the world of commerce, including fine art, illustration, and publication.
