Study Engineering at Mcgill University
Located in Quebec, Canada, McGill University is a public university established in 1821. The college has two campuses: Montreal's downtown campus and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Macdonald campus. The two campuses are about 20 miles from each other. Its primary campus is in downtown Montreal at Mount Royal. Montreal is a big town in the southwest of Quebec's Canadian province. In 2012, QS University Rankings named Montreal as the 10th best location in the globe for a university student. McGill University has excellent airport connectivity on the highway from all sides. The nearest major airport is Montréal / Saint-Hubert Airport (YHU / CYHU), which is 18 km from McGill University and has national flights from Montreal, Canada. Another major airport is Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL / CYUL), which is 21 km from McGill University and has global and national flights from Montreal, Canada. Established in 2012, the Bioengineering Department is the latest department to join the prestigious Faculty of Engineering at McGill University. The main focus of the department is on three primary directions: biological materials and mechanics; biological materials and mechanics; biomolecular and cellular engineering; and biomedical, diagnostics and high throughput screening. Bachelor of Engineering is offered by the department, together with graduate degrees. It is home to 17 known faculties that contribute to the training of worldwide talented learners. The department provides undergraduate and research-based Master's and PhD degrees as well as professional degrees that prepare engineers and researchers to address the real-world issues of today. The Master’s (MEng) degree is available in with and without thesis options. All the Master's programs within the Chemical Engineering Department consist of coursework and study. The programs have been developed to accommodate learners with various science backgrounds and career objectives.

Civil Engineering & Applied Mechanics
Civil engineering remains a centre of excellence in teaching and study at McGill. Currently, the Department has 15 full-time faculty members, about 350 undergraduate and 80 graduate students, nearly one-third of whom are females and one-fifth from outside Canada. The department provides learners with the following specialization fields for its accredited Bachelor of Engineering degree: environmental engineering; Geotechnical engineering; Water resources engineering; Structural engineering; transportation engineering. The Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics provides courses and study possibilities leading to the following graduate degree programs: PhD; Master of Engineering, MEng (Thesis and Non-Thesis Option); MEng in Environmental Engineering; Master of Science, MSc. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department provides an efficient interface with the industry sector, both locally and worldwide, and offers training and research that meets industry requirements. ECE provides four undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering; Honors Electrical Engineering; Computer Engineering and Software Engineering. Mining & Materials Engineering
The Department of Mining and Materials Engineering educates and trains its students to be the best engineers for the materials and mining industries by offering high-quality programs and research. The department currently offers two undergraduate programs (B.Eng.) in a) Materials Engineering and b) Mining Engineering. Both are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) and are co-operative, meaning that they need the students to acquire 12-16 months of compulsory work experience prior to graduation. Most of the research is performed by graduate students at both the Master’s (M.Sc. / M.Eng.) and PhD levels in industrially-relevant projects. Industrial collaborators include Rio Tinto, Barrick, BHP Billiton, Teck, Glencore, Vale, Pratt and Whitney Canada, Novelis, ArcelorMittal, Hitachi, Hydro-Quebec, the Canadian Space Agency, Natural Resources Canada, the National Research Council, to name a few.
1. The Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences Department is Canada's largest group of atmospheric-oceanic sciences universities. It provides both undergraduate and graduate academic programs covering a wide variety of subjects, ranging from raindrop microphysics to worldwide circulation trends observed in the environment and oceans. As part of undergraduate research, it provides 5 programs. There is a mixed Major with Physics and a Liberal program in addition to Honors, Major and Minor in Atmospheric Science. All of these programs are the components of the B.Sc. degree. The Master's and PhD programmes are a part of graduate studies. The Department also offers an intensive, one-year program in theoretical and applied meteorology to B.Sc. or B.Eng. graduates with a firm hold over physics, applied mathematics or other appropriate disciplines, leading to a Diploma in Meteorology degree.
2. The Biology Department provides various degrees in Biology: B.Sc.-Bachelor of Science: BASC-Bachelor of Arts and Science. The Department also coordinates B.Sc. Minor in Biotechnology and the Minor in Science for Arts students. It also provides graduate training with a special focus on Ecology, Biodiversity and Conservation, Evolution, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology, Behavior, Neurobiology, Plant Biology and Bioinformatics in many fields of biology. Graduate programs that lead to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees are also available. There is an emphasis on developing the intellectual and technical abilities needed for independent research in both of the programs. A thesis embodying the outcomes of original research is the primary requirement of both degrees. Option Programs are available in the following areas: NEO (Neotropical Environment); MSE (Graduate Option in Environment) -*Not offered in 2018-2019; (BESS) Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Sustainability Program.
An intensive teaching and research environment in the chemical sciences is provided by the Department of Chemistry at McGill University. Honors, Majors, Minor, and Liberal BSc programs in Chemistry are offered at the undergraduate level. It also provides a study course for both M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees. The study program involves a balance of course work and research. McGill Chemistry PhD graduates go on for outstanding postdoctoral positions, academic positions, and research scientist positions across North America and Europe in industrial and government study labs.
3. The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences applies the principles of physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology Dealing in the study of planetary processes and environments. A number of Bachelor of Science alternatives and Master of Science, Graduate Diploma or Philosophy Doctor may be pursued by the students. Majors, Minors and B.Sc. are undergraduate degrees programs. 6. The Department of Physics offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The two main undergraduate programs in Physics are the Honors and the Major. The two joint honors, one in Mathematics and Physics and the other in Physics and Chemistry, are more specialized and demanding. There are also a number of other major programs offered by the department like: Atmospheric Sciences and Physics, Physics and Computer Science, Physics and Geophysics, and Physiology and Physics, offered jointly with other departments, and a Minor program in Electrical Engineering, available only to students in the Physics Major program. In addition, there is a Minor in Physics and a core Physics component of the Liberal Science Program for students less interested in specialized education. In both the Major and Honors programs, there is a concentration in Biological Physics that keeps a strong core of foundational physics and specialize through adding courses in biology, mathematics, physiology, computer science and chemistry.
