Biology majors learn about the structure and function of cells, organ systems, and tissues in both animals and plants. They study ecology, which looks at how living things interact with their environment, as well as animal behavior, genetics, and evolution.

Students also explore topics like physiology, behavior, genetics, aquatic systems, and tiny organisms such as bacteria. They gain skills for various areas, including field research and biotechnology.

This major lays a strong foundation in biological sciences. It allows students to focus on specific areas within life sciences that match their career goals. Examples of these areas include organism ecology, cell and molecular biology, biomedical careers, aquatic biology, marine biology, plant molecular biology for agricultural biotechnology and bioenergy, and evolutionary biology.

This course provides the following concentrations:

12th Grade

There is no specific cutoff mentioned, but applicants should have completed high school. Required subjects include Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, a World Language, and Academic Electives.
