PTE Academic registration is fully online. There is no paper form, no offline counter, and no agent required. The entire process, from account creation to payment, takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes. All you need is a valid passport and a payment method. Every detail you enter, including your name, date of birth, and passport number, must exactly match your passport, as a mismatch can result in denied entry with no refund.
For the step-by-step process, see our PTE Registration page.

PTE Academic, or Pearson Test of English Academic, is a fully computer-based English language proficiency test developed by Pearson PLC. It assesses Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening, and is accepted by 4,000+ universities and colleges worldwide, as well as by immigration authorities in Australia and New Zealand.
The PTE Academic exam is conducted by Pearson PLC, a British multinational education and publishing company. The test is administered at authorised Pearson VUE test centres, including 50+ centres across India.
The PTE Academic exam fee in India is ₹18,900, inclusive of 18% GST. This same fee applies to PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI, and PTE Core. PTE Home tests (A1, A2, B1) cost ₹15,300.
PTE Academic scores are reported on the Global Scale of English, ranging from 10 to 90. You receive an overall score plus individual scores for each of the four skills. Scoring is done by Pearson's AI-based system, which ensures fast, objective, and consistent results.
PTE Academic results are typically available within 48 hours of completing the exam. This is significantly faster than IELTS or TOEFL, making it a preferred choice for students working against tight deadlines.
PTE Academic scores are valid for 2 years from the test date. After 2 years, the scores expire and cannot be used for university admissions or visa applications.
You can take the PTE Academic exam up to 12 times within any 12-month rolling period. You must receive your score from the previous attempt before booking again. Since scores arrive within 48 hours, the practical minimum gap between attempts is roughly 2 to 3 days.
Pearson added two new question types to Part 1 (Speaking & Writing) in 2026: Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation. These assess practical communication in group and situational contexts. The Speaking & Writing section now has 9 scored question types plus an unscored Personal Introduction.
Yes. PTE Academic is widely accepted across US universities, including all Ivy League institutions. However, acceptance varies by program, so always check the specific requirements on your target university's admissions page before registering.
Both are widely accepted, but PTE Academic offers specific advantages: AI-based scoring removes examiner subjectivity, results come in 48 hours versus up to 13 days for IELTS, and unlimited free score sends are included in the fee. The right choice depends on which test you are better prepared for and which your target universities prefer.
