Types of PTE

Pearson offers several PTE tests for different purposes. Choosing the right one matters, as refunds are not given for booking the wrong test.

  ID requirement: A valid, original, non-expired passport is the only accepted form of ID at Indian test centres. Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, and voter ID are not accepted.

PTE Registration

PTE Academic registration is fully online. There is no paper form, no offline counter, and no agent required. The entire process, from account creation to payment, takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes. All you need is a valid passport and a payment method. Every detail you enter, including your name, date of birth, and passport number, must exactly match your passport, as a mismatch can result in denied entry with no refund.

PTE Exam Fee

The PTE Academic exam fee in India for 2026 is ₹18,900, inclusive of 18% GST. This is an all-inclusive fee covering the full test, AI-based scoring, score report generation, and unlimited free score sends. The fee varies by test type as shown below.

Additional costs to be aware of: rescheduling is free if done more than 14 days before the test, cancellation earns a refund only if done more than 14 days before the test, and a score review costs USD 160 (refunded if your score changes). Full details are on our PTE Fees page.

PTE Exam Dates

Unlike IELTS or TOEFL, PTE Academic has no fixed national exam calendar. It operates on a rolling, real-time booking system, and is conducted year-round, almost every day of the week, across 50+ cities in India. You can book a slot up to 6 months in advance or as late as 24 hours before the test, subject to availability.

Peak booking periods in India are January to March and August to October, aligned with Fall and Spring intake application cycles. How to Book a PTE Slot

To register for and book your PTE Academic exam, follow these steps:

  Step 1: Visit the official Pearson website at www.pearsonpte.com and click Book a Test.
• 
  Step 2: Select the correct test. For most Indian students applying to universities or for Australian or NZ migration, this is PTE Academic.
• 
  Step 3: Create your myPTE account, entering all details exactly as they appear on your passport.
• 
  Step 4: Search for authorised test centres by entering your preferred city.
• 
  Step 5: Select your preferred date and time slot from the calendar.
• 
  Step 6: Review all booking details carefully, as name errors cannot be corrected after payment without cancelling and rebooking.
• 
  Step 7: Make the payment of ₹18,900 using a credit or debit card. UPI, net banking, and PayPal are not accepted.
• 
  Step 8: Receive your booking confirmation by email, containing your reference number, test centre address, and reporting time.

PTE Exam Pattern

PTE Academic is structured as a single 2-hour sitting with three scored parts. In 2026, Pearson added two new question types to Part 1, Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation, making this the most current version of the test.

PTE Score Range
