About the scholarship
IU believes that access to high-quality education should be a right for everyone, not a privilege. Therefore, they strive to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to pursue their dreams. IU offers competitive scholarships ranging from 40% to 75% funding, to new students based on their merit and background.
How does the scholarship work?
You must apply for an IU scholarship before starting your studies. With an IU scholarship, your tuition fees are reduced for the entire duration of your studies. If you are awarded a scholarship, you must sign your study contract within 30 days after receiving your acceptance letter – otherwise, your scholarship will expire. You can start your studies at your convenience.
Who can apply for the scholarship?
Anyone applying to study at IU can also apply for a scholarship. You can apply for a scholarship with your chosen degree program – this means that you can simultaneously apply for your program and your IU scholarship!
Documents required for the scholarship application
- Curriculum vitae
- University entrance qualification
- Certificates/Transcripts and other supporting documents as a merged PDF file
- Written letter of motivation (max. 1 DIN A4 page)

Selection Procedure
The application process for the scholarship can take up to 1 month. Your personal study advisor will guide you through the process and help you at every step. Once you have submitted all the required documents, our scholarship and admission team will review your application. This can take up to two weeks, at the end of which you’ll be informed about the decision regarding your application via e-mail.
