In order to fulfill its mission, the Nehru Trust wants to enable professionals and academics from both India and the UK to acquire and exchange pertinent skills as well as access Indian cultural resources in both countries. These grants are meant for brief trips lasting one to two weeks, and they must be used during the fiscal year that follows the grant (that is, from April 1 to March 31 of the following year).
The Trust makes two awards to individuals to study, research, attend conferences, exchange ideas, or collaborate with colleagues in the UK for short periods of time.

The maximum INR 1,04,485 worth of awards are meant to be used in conjunction with grants from other organizations as a partial payment for maintenance and/or air travel expenses to and from India.
There is a certain eligibility criteria that is mentioned by the Nehru Trust that needs to be considered by all the candidates before applying for the UK travel award. The only eligibility criteria is that citizens of India who are established and working scholars or professionals in museums, galleries, universities, or other specified institutions concerned with the preservation, study, and display of India's art and cultural heritage are eligible for the awards.
