The University of Surrey offers a one-year Master of Science (MSc) program in Sustainable Energy through its Department of Mechanical Engineering Sciences. The tuition fee for this program is £19,000. To gain admission to the MSc in Sustainable Energy, students need to demonstrate their English language skills. Accepted tests for English proficiency include IELTS, Duolingo, and PTE. The minimum graduation cutoff for admission is 55%.

This course uses an interdisciplinary approach to the field of energy. It helps students gain a broad understanding of energy sustainability and renewable energy sources. Students will also have the chance to focus on specific areas like wind energy, solar power, sustainable energy storage, and smart energy systems that use AI.

The program includes projects and lab work that help students develop practical, technical, and transferable skills. Students will also learn about leadership and change management through group projects.

Students will take part in research as part of their dissertation projects. They will join one of our research teams based on their chosen topic within various energy systems projects. This work will be closely supervised by our expert research staff.

Graduation

To apply for postgraduate courses that require a UK 2:2 degree, applicants must have a minimum overall average of 55% or 60% in their undergraduate studies, depending on the institution. Relevant fields include engineering (mechanical, electrical, environmental, material, civil, process, manufacturing, chemical) and science (physics, chemistry, mathematics, environmental). Dual degrees in engineering or science with business management aspects are also accepted.

Applicants must achieve a score of 120 in the Duolingo English Test, with at least 110 in writing and 100 in reading, speaking, and listening.

Applicants must score 67 in PTE, with at least 64 in the writing component and 59 in reading, speaking, and listening.
