To be admitted to Arizona State University (ASU), first-year students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 (which is a 'B' or better on a scale where 'A' equals 4.00) from secondary school. They need to complete three years of high school coursework. If they are still in high school, ASU requires grades from 9th to 11th. If they have finished high school, ASU needs grades from 10th to 12th. Additionally, students must present a completed high school diploma or certificate. International students who completed high school outside the U.S. must meet specific competency requirements: four years of math (including algebra I, geometry, algebra II, and one course requiring algebra II), and three years of laboratory science (one year each from biology, chemistry, earth science, integrated sciences, or physics). The required coursework includes: 4 years of math, 4 years of English (non-ESL/ELL), 3 years of lab sciences (one year each from biology, chemistry, earth science, integrated sciences, or physics), 2 years of social sciences (including 1 year of American history), 2 years of the same second language, and 1 year of fine arts or 1 year of career and technical education. To qualify, students need to be in the top 25% of their high school class or have a 3.00 GPA in the required courses.
