The Bachelor of Science in Public Health program aims to create graduates who have up-to-date and correct knowledge in public health. These graduates will be strong supporters of public health, addressing current public health challenges both locally and nationally, and promoting ways to improve community and personal health.
This B.S. in Public Health is designed for students who want to build a career in public health. The program teaches students how to plan, carry out, and assess public health programs. It also helps them evaluate various health and human services programs related to public health issues.
Graduates from this program will be ready to work in both public and private health and human services organizations. This includes jobs in city, county, state, and national agencies, hospitals, schools, corporations, and nonprofit or professional public health consulting groups.

Students must have completed high school and have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher. California State University (CSU) requires first-time freshman applicants to finish a college preparatory study totaling 15 units with grades of C- or better. This includes: 2 years of social science (including 1 year of U.S. history), 4 years of English, 3 years of math (algebra, geometry, and intermediate algebra; 4 years recommended), 2 years of laboratory science (1 biological and 1 physical), 2 years of the same foreign language, 1 year of visual and performing arts from the same discipline (art, dance, drama/theater, or music), and 1 year of electives from approved courses.
