To be eligible for admission, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or an average of 80% marks. Non-California residents can qualify by earning this GPA along with other factors considered by the university. Those with a GPA between 2.47 and 2.99 may also be evaluated based on additional factors like the number of completed courses, household income, and extracurricular activities. First-time freshman applicants need to complete 15 units of college preparatory study with grades of 'C-' or better, including: 2 years of social science (including U.S. history), 4 years of English, 3 years of math, 2 years of laboratory science, 2 years of the same foreign language, 1 year of visual and performing arts, and 1 year of electives.
