The mission of the Human Genetics program is to enhance health care for everyone by training genetic counselors. This prepares them to meet the needs of their clients, communities, profession, and society as a whole.

Founded in 1969, this program was the first of its kind in the United States and continues to be the largest graduate program in genetic counseling globally.

The Program in Human Genetics provides students with a thorough understanding of medical, scientific, and counseling aspects of human genetics.

It focuses equally on clinical genetic and genomic sciences as well as psychological methods for working with patients.

The interdisciplinary curriculum allows students to combine both theoretical and practical knowledge while honing their research, analytical, and communication skills.
