Master of Science in Data Science at University of Alabama Birmingham

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) offers a Master of Science in Data Science through its Department of Computer Science. This program lasts for 18 months and has a total tuition fee of USD 21,600. To be accepted into the Master of Science in Data Science program, students need to show their English language skills. UAB accepts several tests for this purpose, including IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, and PTE. Additionally, students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 for admission.

Students will take courses such as Database Application Development, Database Systems, Advanced Algorithms and Applications, Machine Learning, and Foundations of Data Science.

Graduation

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or a recognized university from abroad. A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. Applicants need to complete certain courses before applying: Introduction to Computer Science in Python (this can be waived for applicants with two years of work experience in computing/IT), Object-Oriented Programming, Algorithms and Data Structures, and a math background equivalent to two terms of calculus (differential and integral calculus). Probability and Statistics in Computer Science is also required but can be taken after admission.
