They should have taken at least four units of English, three units of mathematics (which should include Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry; Trigonometry is also recommended), three units of science, and four units of history or social studies. Students must also complete enough academic electives to reach a total of twenty Carnegie high school units. These electives can include foreign language, computer programming, religion, philosophy, and advanced science and math courses. If students lack some required courses, they may still be admitted, but they must make up these deficiencies during their first year.
