Step One: Prepare Documents for Application

Statement of Purpose (SOP)

Write a two-page, double-spaced essay that covers these two points:

• Describe two achievements that show your ability to succeed in the graduate program.
• Discuss your unique personal qualities and experiences that set you apart from other applicants.

Letters of Recommendation (LOR)

Provide at least one and no more than three letters of recommendation. These should come from people who can speak about your work and/or academic achievements.

For the MS in Biomedical Informatics, you need two letters of recommendation from references who can evaluate your work and/or academic achievements.

Resume (CV)

Submit a detailed resume that shows your work experience and background.

Step Two: Additional Documents Required

• Unofficial transcripts or course-by-course transcript evaluations from World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), or Educational Perspectives.
• A statement about your academic career goals and how they relate to the program you want to study. This helps the department understand if your goals match their objectives.
• A writing sample that discusses an area of innovation, information technology, or design that interests you. This should be a two-page, double-spaced essay that shows your interest in interdisciplinary ideas and applications in technology.
