What is the eligibility criteria for the India First year Excellence Scholarship?

This scholarship is specifically intended for Indian students studying in Canada with a student visa, and it is only awarded to those with exceptional high school grades and exceptional academic achievement. The applicant:

  • Need to be a citizen of India
  • Needed to have finished high school at an Indian school.
  • Must possess a letter of unconditional admission to the University of Alberta's undergraduate program.
  • The selected program must begin in the same year and session as the scholarship.
  • Prior to entering the university, less than 24 IB, AP, or A-Level credits are required.
What is the application process for the India First year Excellence Scholarship?

The India First Year Excellence Scholarship is not available through a separate application form at the University of Alberta. 

Indian students who are accepted into the University of Alberta's undergraduate program will automatically be given consideration for the scholarship. 

Applicants are advised to submit their admission applications as soon as possible if they intend to use this scholarship program or any other UAlberta scholarship for financial assistance. 

What are the documents required for the India First year Excellence Scholarship?

You need to have the following documents with you to apply for the India First Excellence Scholarship.

  • Five academic subjects in classes X and XII must be completed.
  • Academic transcripts from high school
  • English language competency rating
What is the selection process for the India First year Excellence Scholarship?

Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of following criteria:

  • The University of Alberta admission office will submit the qualified students' applications to the scholarship selection committee.
  • The primary factor used to select recipients of the India First Year Excellence Scholarships is their high school graduation status. 
  • Every component is examined, including extracurricular activities and academic standing.
  • The First Year Excellence Scholarship recipients are emailed with the committee's decision. 
  • When tuition is paid, funds are automatically withheld from the recipient's account and transferred directly to their student account.
