Aston University Requirements for International Students

Must have academic qualifications that are the same as those needed in the UK for undergraduate or postgraduate study. Applicants who do not speak English as their first language must show proof of an adequate English language qualification or complete the university's waiver requirements.

IELTS requirements:

  Undergraduate: IELTS 6.0 overall, with no band below 5.5 (varies by course)
• 
  Postgraduate: IELTS 6.5 overall, with no band below 6.0 (varies by course)
• 
  Some courses may have extra requirements, such as having taken certain classes before, going through an interview process, submitting a portfolio, or having job experience.
• 
  If direct entry requirements are not met, pathway programmes such as an International Foundation or International Year One may be offered to progress into the full degree.

Aston University Scholarships

International Community Scholarship:

• 
  Amount: £3,000 - £4,000
• 
  Eligible for international PG students and not valid for OSPAP, MRes, Physician Associate, or research courses

Sir Adrian Cadbury Chancellor’s Scholarship:

• 
  Amount: £10,000
• 
  For international PG offer-holders.
• 
  Excludes MBA, MRes, OSPAP & Physician Associate.

Automatic Merit Scholarship (UG):

• 
  Amount: Up to £2,000
• 
  Awarded based on academic grades (e.g., equivalent A*AA / AAB)
• 
  Excludes MBChB & nursing programmes.

Vice-Chancellor’s Enterprise Scholarship:

• 
  Amount: Up to 100% fee cover.
• 
  For PG students planning to start a business post-graduation.
• 
  Strong entrepreneurial motivation is required and excludes OSPAP.

Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship:

• 
  Amount: Up to £17,500
• 
  For UG & PG students.
• 
  Exceptional academics + proven extracurricular/leadership or professional experience and separate application required.

Ferguson Scholarship (India & Africa):

• 
  Amount: Up to £22,500 + stipend support.
• 
  For PG students from India or Africa.
• 
   Applicable for select MSc programmes (e.g., Drug Delivery, Neuroscience).
• 
  Academic excellence required

GREAT Scholarship:

• 
  Amount: £10,000
• 
  For selected countries, often includes India.
• 
  Valid for one-year PG programmes, with a strong academic profile needed.
