Overview

Bowie State University (BSU) is the first historically black university in Maryland, established in 1865. Located in Prince George’s County, Maryland, BSU offers a wide range of programs, including 22 undergraduate degrees, 19 master's degrees, two Ph.D. programs, and 14 certificate programs. The university has programs in various fields, such as computer science, education, human capital development, corporate communication, and nursing.

BSU has made history by being the first historically black university to offer overseas study programs in partnership with the University of Maryland University College. It was also the first institution in the nation to provide a degree course in pedagogy. The university has an acceptance rate of 36% and currently enrolls over 4,000 students across its diverse programs.
