Bucknell University is a private university located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1846 and originally called the University at Lewisburg. The school faced financial issues in 1851 but received a generous donation of 50,000 dollars from William Bucknell, a trustee. To honor his support, the university changed its name to Bucknell University in 1886. The campus spans 450 acres and includes over 100 buildings.
