LeTourneau University (LETU) was founded in 1946 by R.G. LeTourneau, a well-known businessman and inventor. Initially, it was called LeTourneau Technical Institute and only admitted male students. In 1961, it became a co-educational college and was later renamed LeTourneau College. Finally, in 1989, it adopted its current name.
