Overview

The University of Southern Indiana (USI) was established in 1965 and is a well-known public university located in Evansville, Indiana. It is a proud member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. USI also holds several specialized accreditations, including those from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, ABET, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

The university sits on a stunning 1,400-acre campus and offers a variety of programs through several colleges. These include the College of Liberal Arts, Romain College of Business, College of Nursing and Health Professions, and the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education. USI provides over 80 bachelor’s programs, 13 master’s programs, and 2 doctoral programs. It is recognized as a Carnegie Foundation Community Engaged University, serving more than 20,000 participants each year through its outreach and engagement initiatives. Additionally, USI offers study-abroad opportunities in over 60 countries and welcomes international students from around the world. Scholarships and financial aid are available for eligible students.

USI's campus features modern facilities, including an administration building, science center, technology center, physical activities center, liberal arts center, recreation and fitness center, performance center, applied engineering center, and well-equipped libraries. Athletics are also a key part of campus life at USI. The university competes at the NCAA Division II level and is part of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Women's sports include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field, and volleyball. Men's sports include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, baseball, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field.

The student body at USI is diverse, with a significant percentage of Hispanic, Black, and Asian students. The majority of students are under 24 years old, reflecting a vibrant campus atmosphere. USI's overall graduation rate is impressive, showcasing the university's commitment to student success.
