Overview
Worcester State University, originally founded as Worcester Normal School in 1874, is located on St. Ann's Hill in Worcester, Massachusetts. It was the fifth normal school funded by the state. In 1932, the school moved to its current location and was renamed Worcester State Teachers College. The only building on the new site housed all classes, labs, and offices. By 1963, it became known as Worcester State College, reflecting its growth into a college of sciences and liberal arts. In 2010, the institution received its current name, Worcester State University, after the Massachusetts Legislature granted university status to state colleges.
The university's campus covers 58 acres and features modern facilities and amenities. It includes several residence halls such as Sheehan Hall and Dowden Hall, providing comfortable living spaces for students.
