The Reading and Writing section presents short reading passages, or passage pairs, each followed by a single multiple-choice question, across four content domains - Information and Ideas, Craft and Structure, Expression of Ideas, and Standard English Conventions.
Passages range from 25 to 150 words and represent the subject areas of literature, history/social studies, the humanities, and science.
The four content domains of the SAT Reading and Writing syllabus are:
The SAT Math syllabus covers four categories. Questions are a mix of multiple-choice and student-produced responses, with approximately 30% set in real-world contexts. All four categories appear in both modules.
Algebra measures the ability to analyze, fluently solve, and create linear equations and inequalities, as well as analyze and fluently solve equations and systems of equations using multiple techniques.
Topics include:
Advanced Math focuses on the math needed to pursue further study in disciplines such as science or economics and for career opportunities in STEM fields. It measures skills central for progression to more advanced math courses, including understanding of absolute value, quadratic, exponential, polynomial, rational, radical, and other nonlinear equations.
Topics include:
Problem-Solving and Data Analysis measures the ability to apply quantitative reasoning about ratios, rates, and proportional relationships; understand and apply unit rate; and analyze and interpret one- and two-variable data.
Topics include:
Geometry and Trigonometry measures the ability to solve problems that focus on area and volume formulas, lines, angles, and triangles, right triangles and trigonometry, and circles.
Based on the adaptive structure of the Digital SAT, topics can broadly be categorised by difficulty:

No. The Digital SAT syllabus has been stable since the full transition to digital in 2024. There are no new topics or structural changes for 2026.
It depends on the individual student. Indian students with strong math backgrounds from CBSE or ICSE often find Math more manageable. Reading and Writing can be trickier for students who are less accustomed to close reading in English.
Yes. A built-in Desmos graphing calculator is available throughout the entire Math section. You may also bring your own approved calculator.
