McGill's main intake is Fall (September), with limited Winter entry for some graduate programs. Undergraduate applicants apply through McGill's own portal; deadlines are fixed and competitive programs review on a rolling basis, so early submission matters.

McGill University Fees

McGill tuition for international students varies by faculty, with a guaranteed-tuition model that locks the rate for the duration of a bachelor's degree. The 2026–27 figures below are approximate annual estimates (two terms). INR values are approximate (around ₹61 per CAD 1).

McGill University Programmes

McGill offers degrees across more than 300 fields of study within 11 faculties on two campuses:

McGill University International Students Criteria

• 
  Undergraduate academic requirement: A strong senior secondary record; for Indian students, competitive Class 12 results, typically with overall averages and subject prerequisites in the 85%+ range for competitive programs (Mathematics and sciences required for STEM, engineering, and management).
• 
  Graduate academic requirement: A recognised bachelor's degree with strong standing, generally a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0 (or 3.2 in the last two years), plus program-specific requirements.
• 
  English proficiency (undergraduate): IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (with 6.5 in each band), or TOEFL iBT 90 (no less than 21 per section), or PTE Academic 65 overall, or Duolingo 125 (130 for select programs like B.Com. and B.Ed.).
• 
  English proficiency (graduate): Typically IELTS 6.5 overall or TOEFL iBT 86 (no less than 20 per section); many programs require higher (e.g. IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 100). Duolingo and PTE are not accepted for graduate admission.

  Standardised tests: GRE or GMAT required for some graduate programs (the Desautels MBA requires GMAT/GRE with no waivers); SAT/ACT optional for most undergraduate programs.

  Supporting documents: Academic transcripts, proof of English proficiency, and program-specific items such as a statement of purpose, references, CV, portfolio, or audition.

  Application: Undergraduate and graduate applicants apply through McGill's own portal; the undergraduate application fee is CAD 140.16, and a second application in the same term and level is free.

  Study permit: After receiving and accepting an offer, international students apply for a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) and a Canadian study permit.

McGill University Scholarships

McGill awards entrance scholarships based on academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement. Most undergraduate entrance awards are considered automatically at admission, while major scholarships require a separate application. As a publicly funded university, McGill's funding is primarily merit-based.

1. McGill Entrance Scholarship Program
